With all the hype over the iPhone I suppose it was only fitting that CNET produce a list of the 10 most hyped products that got the industry in a buzz.
* Segway – we all remember this one, it looked like the next product that would change the way we get around but never really took off
* 1984 Macintosh Computer – the hype began with the 1984 super bowl ad and never stopped
* XBOX 360 – this one needs no explanation but the lead up to launch saw a 30 hour marathon event in a Southern California desert where games could play their favourite titles
* PS3 – this one was a frenzy but well worth it
* Wii – this one was hyped but not as much, a lot of it’s power has come after it’s sale
* Windows 95 – the first real Microsoft OS that was accessed through a GUI
* Motorola RAZR – this is when thin became in
* Gizmondo – it was suppose to be the “be all” of devices but pretty bombed after launch
* PS2 – the one product that is still going strong and still sells a bundle of units a year
* World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade – the first expansion to the WOW scene and WOWers were really looking forward to it
